Jekyll Brewing Makes Historically Good Beer (Issue 32)

Jekyll Brewing Makes Historically Good Beer (Issue 32)

In just a few short years, Jekyll Brewing has made a name for itself with consistent quality and a focus on community.

Jekyll Brewing founder and president Michael Lundmark drew upon local Southern history to build Alpharetta, Georgia's first brewery. Just four years later, Jekyll is making its own history – one bottle at a time.
Jekyll Beer Seven Bridges

In the Beginning

The story begins with Lundmark, a former business developer brewing in his garage as a hobby circa 2012. Readily admitting his recipes needed work, he found himself regularly visiting a local homebrew supply shop and receiving critiques from a knowledgeable young employee. That employee turned out to be award-winning homebrewer Josh Rachel.

After deciding to take the leap from financial security into the depths of pint-making in 2012, Lundmark lined up investors and approached Rachel to join as Jekyll’s brewmaster. Though Rachel had been pitched before, he agreed.

Almost immediately after, Jekyll’s main investor backed out, leaving the pair scrambling to make up the difference. Rolling with the punches, the pair decided to become co-owners and set out raising the money from friends, family and a Kickstarter campaign.

Alaskan Brewing Adds Husky IPA as Year-Round Offering

Alaskan Brewing Adds Husky IPA as Year-Round Offering

Alaskan Brewing has brought back its Husky IPA as a year-round selection. For more, see below:

JUNEAU, Alaska (Sept. 1, 2017) – In response to the popularity and near-cult following it gained this spring as a seasonal beer, Husky IPA returns, joining the pack as Alaskan Brewing Company’s newest year-round beer. Husky IPA is a celebration of Mosaic hops and their unmistakable tropical and fruity aroma.

“Experimenting with Mosaic hops, we knew we wanted to brew an IPA with them, something that highlights the juicy Mosaic flavor, without being too overpowering or overly sweet,” said Tyler Lindquist, brewer at Alaskan Brewing. “These hops are celebrated for their complex, broad aroma, backed by clean bittering, which makes a big impression. This beer really stands out from the pack when you’re looking at the selection of IPAs available out there.”

Cape May Dedicates Portion of Labor Day Weekend Taproom Sales to Harvey Relief

Cape May Dedicates Portion of Labor Day Weekend Taproom Sales to Harvey Relief

Cape May is doing its part to support the victims of Hurricane Harvey. For all the details, see below:

Cape May Brewing Company has watched the images coming from Houston with heavy hearts. The devastation throughout southeast Texas has been grievous, and those in the path of the storm need all the help they can get.

“Cape May is no stranger to storms,” says co-owner and vice-president Bob Krill. “When we see images like the ones coming out of Houston, our hearts go out to these people.”

With that in mind, CMBC is planning to start their autumn Pint Night series with a weekend dedicated to Harvey relief. The brewery, located at 1288 Hornet Road in the Cape May Airport, will be donating $1 from every pint, flight, growler fill, and packaged beer sold through Sunday of Labor Day weekend.

“One of our Core Values is ‘Be a Good Neighbor’,” says co-owner and president Ryan Krill. “It doesn’t matter if that neighbor is across the street or halfway across the continent, CMBC will do everything it can to help.”
