Founders Brewing Company has announced the newest member of its Backstage Series, reDANKulous Imperial Red IPA. The thirteenth entry into the popular limited release series, is a bold amber-red hop bomb with "spicy, piney, tropical complexities of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops," according to a release from Founders.
As a beer connoisseur I’m always trying to spread the gospel of good craft beer to anyone who’ll listen. That’s why it pains me to announce that my girlfriend of almost 2 years does not enjoy beer.
I’ve plied her with Pliny and tempted her with Terrapin, but nothing seems to change her stance. Whenever I offer her a beer, it’s always the same reaction: she’ll take the tiniest of sips, wrinkle her nose in distaste, and stick out her tongue, usually making a light retching noise for good measure.
Oktoberfest has finally broken cover with an announcement from one of America's most respected craft breweries. Sierra Nevada Brewing Company has announced it is collaborating with a German brewer to produce an Oktoberfest for the North American market. Fittingly, the Brauhaus Riegele is also directed by a father-son team. Here is Sierra's media release:
You hold the marriage of wine and beer. Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year.
Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet. Serve your friends Belgian Red in a brandy snifter or champagne flute and toast life with beer from the land of Wisconsin.
Chicago’s venerable Berghoff Brewery will debut its Rowdy Root Beer in July. The 6.6% ABV brew is Berghoff’s first alcoholic root beer, though it has produced a classic root beer since the days of Prohibition.
Rowdy Root Beer is made with a flavorless porter base and root beer flavoring, and will be available in six-packs of cans, and on draught in select Chicago-area bars. The label features a cartoon designed for Berghoff by Canadian artist Chez Meka.
Berghoff Brewery’s beers are brewed at Stevens Point Brewery in Wisconsin, the 26th largest craft brewery in the U.S.
This German-style Altbier is our nod to an old world, old school ale. The word “Alt” is German for “old”, and refers to the traditional style of brewing before lager yeast was discovered. Balt is a dark, copper colored brew with a creamy head, a gentle bitterness and a clean, dry finish. Prost, Hon!
