Odell Brewing Debuts Double Dry Hopped IPA

Odell Brewing Co. in Fort Collins, Colorado has announced the release of a new Double IPA called Double Dry Hopped Imperial IPA. More details can be found below.

Fort Collins, CO. - Odell Brewing’s latest limited release is D.D.H., a Double Dry Hopped Imperial IPA.

Dry-hopping has evolved in the last few years as a way to drastically unlock hop aromas and bring more dimension to American craft beer. This process is no new trick for Odell Brewing, who is known for their hop-forward IPAs.

“Many of our IPAs are dry-hopped with several hop varieties,” explains COO, Brendan McGivney. “For D.D.H. we had an opportunity to highlight two of our favorite hops, Chinook and Galaxy and showcase how amazing they are when they’re brought together.”

Chinook is a classic American hop with notes of citrus and pine. Galaxy, a modern Australian hop, boasts notes of passion fruit and peach. By doubling the dry-hop additions in the brew, the essential oils of these complementary hops create an explosive aroma and flavor profile.

With flavors of sweet peach, orange peel, and tropical fruits, D.D.H. Imperial IPA comes in at 8.2% ABV and is available through December, on draft and in 6-pack cans across Odell’s 19-state footprint.

Cape May Brewing Company Wins Bronze at Great American Beer Festival

Cape May, NJ -- Cape May Brewing Company is pleased to announce their bronze medal win at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition, the world’s largest commercial beer competition. The GABF, presented by the Brewers Association, recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded on October 5 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, in 107 beer categories covering 174 different beer styles (including all subcategories), establishing the best examples of each style in the country.

CMBC was recognized in the Brown Porter beer-style category for their Honey Porter, the first Jersey Fresh-designated beer in New Jersey. With subtle notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, roasted and dark crystal malts shine through in a smooth and light-bodied porter that is balanced by a hint of sweetness thanks to the local Jersey Fresh honey.

“Honey Porter has long been one of the mainstays of our lineup,” says Cape May Brewing Company CEO and co-owner, Ryan Krill. “It’s extraordinarily gratifying that this recipe that began in my bathtub as one of my homebrews almost a decade ago got us our very first medal at GABF.”

Wild Leap Announces the Release of Alpha Abstraction Vol. 9

Wild Leap is pleased to announce the ninth edition in the Alpha Abstraction series will hit the shelves this October. For Alpha Abstraction lovers, Volume 9 promises to deliver an exciting new variation of the juicy haze we have all come to love!

The Alpha Abstraction Double IPA series was created as an opportunity to explore the plethora of hop varieties and to experiment with flavor profiles they create. Volume 9 continues with this trend by introducing Michigan Chinook hops to the brewing process.

The Chinook hop is a popular hop variety that is traditionally grown on the West Coast. However, several farms have begun to grow a variety in Michigan providing a new, distinct taste.

“The Chinook hop traditionally brings a piney, dank flavor that is about 70% pine and 30% pineapple,” explains Chris Elliott, Wild Leap Head Brewer. “With Michigan Chinook, we are finding that those flavors have almost flipped, and we are getting a much sweeter result with a strong pineapple essence.”

Volume 9 follows in the juicy footsteps of its predecessors as this double dry-hopped IPA is hazy, with the sweetness of pineapple, and paired with a tart grapefruit bite.

“When brewing new volumes in the Alpha series, we are always seeking the new and unknown,” shares Elliott. “When we first learned of these varieties being grown on small farms, it was the perfect fit for Volume 9.”
